Garmin Launches CIRQA, a Screen-Free Health and Fitness Band

Garmin has launched CIRQA Smart Band, its first screen-free wearable for continuous health monitoring and activity tracking.

The band has no display, leaving users to review their data in the Garmin Connect app. Garmin says it offers up to 10 days of battery life and does not require a Garmin subscription.

CIRQA is available now with a suggested retail price of $199.99.

Background

Garmin designed CIRQA as a lower-distraction alternative to a smartwatch while retaining many of the health and training features found across its wearable range.

The fabric-covered band can be worn around the wrist or arm and comes in Citron Gray, Mauve, French Gray, Dark Olive, Captain Blue, French Blue, and Black.

Without a screen, activities and health data are viewed and edited in Garmin Connect. The band can automatically detect and record a range of activities, and Garmin says its classification should become more accurate as users confirm or edit their sessions.

Health and Sleep Tracking

When worn throughout the day and night, CIRQA tracks wrist-based heart rate, Garmin’s Body Battery energy score, Pulse Ox, stress, skin temperature, and other health metrics.

Sleep features include a breakdown of sleep stages, a sleep score, guidance on sleep duration, heart-rate variability, respiration, and nap detection. The data is presented inside Garmin Connect rather than on the band itself.

The wearable also supports menstrual-cycle and pregnancy tracking. Garmin says overnight skin-temperature data can improve period predictions and provide past ovulation estimates. Users can sync data with the FDA-cleared Natural Cycles birth-control app, although that service requires a separate subscription.

Garmin notes that CIRQA is a consumer wellness product rather than a medical device. Its Pulse Ox and reproductive-health features are not intended to diagnose or monitor medical conditions, and the skin-temperature feature is not intended to support contraception by itself.

Fitness Features

CIRQA can track daily steps, calories burned, and more than 80 activities, including running, walking, and yoga. A single side button can be used to start a selected activity manually.

The band also includes training readiness, HRV status, VO2 max, training status, workout-benefit insights, and estimated recovery time. Outdoor walks, rides, and runs can use connected GPS from a compatible iPhone or Android phone.

When paired with a phone and Garmin Connect, LiveTrack allows friends and family to follow a user’s location in real time.

CIRQA gives Garmin a screen-free option for people who want continuous health and fitness tracking without wearing another display. It is designed to complement the company’s smartwatches and wellness monitors, allowing users to move between Garmin devices while keeping their data in the same app.

Garmin says CIRQA is available now for $199.99. The company did not announce additional sizes, regional pricing, or future features in the release.
